Changes to Netball Victoria's umpiring test panels will allow Associations/League to test candidates as they arise, instead of waiting for groups to be ready.
The changes, along the lines of the National Umpire Development Framework (2010), begin early next year.
From January 1 2011, eligible C badge umpires will be able to participate in testing panels.
Eligable C badge umpires must be nominated by their Association/League or a current tester, and meet the following criteria.
Once umpires have been nominated by their Association/League or a current tester, Netball Victoria will verify the nominated umpire's qualifications and advise if they've met the eligibility criteria.
Testing resources will be forwarded at this time.
Eligable umpires will then participate as a cadet with a senior mentor no two testing panels before the appropriate testing certificate is awarded.
Successful C grade testers and prospective C grade testers will be invited to a testing in-service day on January 30, 2011.
It is expected that Association/League C grade testers give their time to Associations/Leagues free of charge.
This allows Associations/Leagues to test whenever they have a candidate, instead of the current practice of waiting till a number of candidates are ready for testing.
