Melbourne Vixens goalshooter and Bendigo local Caitlin Thwaites will be appearing at the Lake Weeroona 2010 Australia Day celebrations on Tuesday January 26th.

Thwaites, part of the 2009 Vixens Championship winning team and recently inducted Australian Diamonds player, will visit her home town and help run the San Remo NetSetGO! Junior Netball Program as part of the annual celebrations.

“I take any chance I can to come home, and it’s especially exciting when I can meet some young netballers and hopefully inspire them to take their netball to the next level, but most importantly, to have fun with their sport,” Thwaites said.

“My goal is to work towards a Vixens team full of Bendigo girls in ten or fifteen years’ time. Sharelle (McMahon) and Julie (Corletto) are both from out this way, so we’re almost halfway there!”

The San Remo NetSetGO! Activity Centre provides an opportunity for boys and girls to put their netball skills to the test. San Remo NetSetGo! activity sessions will be held for 5 11 year olds at various times throughout the day to offer a taste of what the program can offer. There will be lots of Netball Victoria and Melbourne Vixens giveaways, and Caitlin will be appearing between 1pm-3pm

Netball Victoria Development Officers Kendyl Hopley and Kate OConnor will be also be on call  throughout the day to provide further information on establishing the San Remo NetSetGO! program in Bendigo.
